University's Travel Insurance Plan

Eligibility

a)

Students who take part in the exchange programs of Schools and Departments.

 

b)

Students who take part in activities or internships organized and arranged by the University outside Hong Kong.

 

c)

Place of Departure/Return

  • Hong Kong must be either a place of departure or return, if not both.
  • If both your place of departure and return are outside Hong Kong, you are NOT eligible to be covered by this insurance scheme. You must arrange your own travel insurance for your exchange study/ trip.
  • Non-local students may depart directly from your home country for your exchange study/ trip, but you MUST return to Hong Kong, vice versa, if your departure was originally from Hong Kong, you may choose to return directly to your home country at the end of your exchange study/ trip.

d)

The period of travel should not exceed two hundred (200) days.

 

If you are planning to travel more than two hundred (200) days, please inform the corresponding office (see below) in advance to arrange extension of your insurance:

 

  • Scholarships & Financial Aid Office (SFAO) by email to sfao.ins@ust.hk for UG exchange-out students
  • Finance Office (FO) via your Department/ Program Office for PG exchange-out students
  • Finance Office (FO) via the office organizing/ co-ordinating the activity for students participating in other overseas activities arranged by the University

Coverage

a)

b)

The Plan covers your journeys between Hong Kong and the destination country of your exchange study, as well as your traveling within the destination country. It is also extended to include any personal deviations during and/or immediately before/after the study trip.  However, the whole travel period should not exceed two hundred (200) days.

 

Insurance Certificate

  •  

For UG exchange-out students:

Please complete the form and submit to Scholarships & Financial Aid Office (SFAO) by email to sfao.ins@ust.hk . Kindly expect to receive the insurance certificate in around a week.

 

  •  

For PG exchange-out students:

Please approach your Department/ Program Office to arrange and request insurance certificate for you via the University's Finance Office (FO).

 

  •  

For students participating in other overseas activities organized/ arranged by the University:

The office organizing/ co-ordinating the activity would arrange insurance for you with the University's Finance Office (FO). Please approach the office if insurance certificate is deemed necessary.

 

Insurance Claim

a)

Please click here to download the Claim Form and refer to the instructions detailed in the Claim Procedure (Pg. 1-4) to submit a claim. Claims should be submitted to the insurance company as soon as possible within 30 days from the date of occurrence.

 

b)

Please keep your air tickets/ flight itinerary and relevant documents as supporting documents for insurance claim.

 

c)
