HKUST offers scholarships for both local and non-local entrants. Details of eligibility and application procedures for the coming academic year (2016/17 cohort) are as follows:
Scholarships for ALL Entrants
University Admissions Scholarship Scheme for IB Diploma Holders
IB Diploma candidates/holders who have completed the IB Diploma requirements before September 2016 will be considered for the Scholarship. Students with IB Total Points (including Bonus Points) 36 or above will be awarded with the scholarship. Details are as follows:

Students do not have to apply for the Scholarship. All IB Diploma candidates/holders are automatically considered for the awards based on their verified IB Total Points. The University will select qualified students and inform the selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
Scholarship Scheme for International/Asian Olympiad Gold Medalists
The University sets up the Scholarship Scheme to honour outstanding International/Asian Olympiad Gold Medalists. Details are as follows:
Continuing undergraduate students with CGA of 3.50 or above as of Summer 2014/15 are eligible to apply for the Scheme in 2015/16 academic year. The levels of awards are as follows:

Scholarship for Local Entrants
JUPAS Scholarship
JUPAS students attaining Level 5** in 1 Category A subject or above in one single sitting of HKDSE will be eligible for JUPAS Scholarships. The JUPAS Scholarships range from $5,000 (+School top-up1) to a full scholarship of "Full tuition fee plus living allowance of HK$50,000" p.a., renewable for normal duration of study. Students do not have to apply for JUPAS Scholarships. The University will identify qualified JUPAS entrants and inform selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
WISE Scholarship
With support from the dedicated donors, WISE Scholarships was set up in 2012/13 to encourage top caliber female students among the JUPAS pool to join our School of Science or Engineering. Female students with strong interests in science or engineering who obtain Level 5** in at least 1 Category A subject are eligible to be considered. On top of academic strengths, WISE Scholars are expected to demonstrate non-academic talents, achievements in science and technology competitions, and good interview performance.
For 2016/17 intake, each awardee can receive the Scholarship ranging from a one-off award at HKD10,000 to a renewable award at HKD20,000 p.a. in addition to her entitlement of the University’s JUPAS Scholarship Scheme. The number of awardees will vary from year to year depending on the academic and non-academic merits of the eligible candidates, as well as the available funding.
Direct Entry Scholarship
Outstanding local Direct Entry students will be considered for Direct Entry Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to top students from all backgrounds based on academic merit. Students do not have to apply for Direct Entry scholarships. The University will select qualified Direct Entry students and inform the selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
Scholarship for Non-local Entrants
University Admissions Scholarship Scheme for Non-local Students
HKUST is committed to supporting outstanding non-local students who choose to pursue their higher education with us. Scholarships are awarded to top students from all backgrounds based on academic merit.
Students do not have to apply for the scholarship. Every non-local student who receives an offer of admission to HKUST in September 2016 is eligible for the scholarship. The University will select qualified students and inform the selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
Mainland JEE Top Scorer Scheme
Top scorers in Joint Entrance Examination for Universities in PRC (JEE) will be considered for the scholarship. Each scholarship is equivalent to Full Tuition Fee plus allowance of HK$50,000 per academic year, renewable for the normal duration of study and subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Students do not have to apply for the Scheme. All Mainland JEE top scorers are automatically considered for the award. The University will select qualified students and inform the selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
